I sometimes share stories about what makes a life of a writer challenging. Not this time. I discovered three behaviors we must stop if we want to make writing easier.
1. Stop censoring.
I don’t mean we should always say whatever we want whenever we want. We have to respect others. The consequences of outing people in our world also must remain on our forefront.
However, we need to not hold back if we want to make writing easier. This means stop censoring our thoughts while our work is still in progress.
🛑Stop censoring mid-sentence during a first draft.
🛑Stop interrupting our thoughts and keep writing.
🛑Stop interrupting the thought flow with censorship.
2. Stop second-guessing ourselves.
We may not always see the number of likes, views, comments or shares we hoped for after we publish. That doesn’t mean we don’t have thoughts we need to share with the world.
