The Thought Process That Landed My First Paid Publication
One thing you must “do” before being published
I remember the thought process that led to my first paid publication in 2005. Why is this significant? You’re soon to find out.
In 2004, I didn’t know I would get published yet, but I found out about the A Cup of Comfort books from Faithwriters.com. That was my first target at the time.
I also joined Writing.com in December 2005, according to what my profile link shows. I gave more than 150 writing reviews and received quite a few myself for my work since then.
Back then, it was not unusual to use a “weird” alias for writing online. Mine was “fishtail1776,” and I decided not to change it. Changing it would be too much of a process for me right now.
The Turning Point for Me
It wasn’t college, or high school–or elementary school — anymore. During those times, I felt safe. My teachers always seemed to love my writing, and they always encouraged me to continue.
In 2005, I was in the “real world” now. In the “real world,” some people reviewing your work will do what they did to me. They hurt my feelings, but it wasn’t because the advice they gave wasn’t true.
